Meet The Holly Days Nursery & Landscaping Team

Torrey Rose

Owner / Operator

Torrey favorite aspect of landscape design is planning and installing backyard poolscapes. Torrey’s passion behind horticulture and landscapes began working at a holly farm in Bucks County as a kid. He trimmed the holly trees and learned a lot about the various techniques involved in the care of plants. Torrey was able to develop this opportunity into a business at Christmas time. “Friends and family would ask me to trim their Holly and I would turn around and sell those cuttings to florists and garden centers up and down the east coast,” Torrey says.

Then came Holly Days, “I started this little garden center and landscape company and my brother John came on, and oh the fun we had! Now we have seven (7) acres in Horsham Township, Ambler, and five (5) acres in Hilltown, PA. We run a full-service landscape design and build company, a retail and wholesale nursery, and a gorgeous retail garden center.”

Torrey is a Pennsylvania Certified Horticulturalist (PCH) and maintains his (ICPI) Interlocking Concrete Paving Institute certification as well. He actively maintains membership with (PLNA) Pennsylvania Landscape & Nursery Association and was a member of the board of directors from 2015-2017. Torrey, of course, brings forever work experience, dedication, and lifelong passion to Holly Days Nursery & Landscaping each day.

John Rose

Owner / Operations Manager

John is the go-to project manager for paver patio installations, gorgeous new patios involving the removal of existing hardscape features, or blending new and old construction together to create something astounding that customers will love.

Drawing on 40 years of building, plumbing, and electrical experience, John oversees the job from mobilization to completion. “I love recreating a backyard into usable and beneficial space,” says John.  “I love how happy our clients are when we are finished, and they get to sit out on their new patio with their friends and family.”

While John thought he would be a famous race car driver one day, his true calling turned out to be landscape and hardscape installation. When John competitively raced sprint cars he was always in control and very committed to learning the track, tuning his car, and finding a way to win. He uses some of the driving techniques today, and even says, “It’s just another way of working with my hands and getting dirty,” with a smile.

Danielle Goodson

Nursery Manager

Danielle wears many hats at the nursery, from general manager to nursery sales and helping load up her clients trucks—but her favorite task is stocking the perennial section. “In the spring it’s creeping phlox & hellebores. In the summer it’s echinacea, nepeta, lavender, and hosta. During the fall it’s sedum, asters, and so many others,” Danielle says enthusiastically! “I get to make sure we have tons of ornamental grasses and decide what new perennial introductions to bring into the garden center. Every year this section gets larger and I get to buy more awesome products.”

Danielle came to Holly Days Nursery shortly after graduating college. She was initially hired to work in the garden center. Owners, Torrey and John, immediately recognized her leadership capabilities and natural business sense. Today, as a nursery manager, Danielle plays a key role in the day-to-day functions of the nursery—everything including purchasing products, IT, sales / advertising, employee staffing, and training. She brings 20+ years of experience to the Holly Days Nursery team. “Looking back,” Danielle notes, “Though I haven’t traveled far physically in my career, I have been able to see Holly Days grow from a small wholesale-only garden center to one of the largest retail, wholesale and design/build landscape nurseries in the area. I am proud of knowing I was a big part of that growth.”
